KEN AND JILL MILLER WIN GOLD!

From – Blue Mountain Weightlifting Club

 

On the weekend of June 19 -20 Jill and Ken Miller of Collingwood represented Canada at the Pan American Masters Weightlifting Championships and Canadian Masters Weightlifting Championships in Montreal. There were 121 athletes from 7 countries competing in various age and weight classes.

Both the Millers won gold medals in both of the competitions.

Jill competed in the 69 kg./55-59 years class and lifted a total of 84 kgs. based on 35 kgs. in the snatch lift and 49 kgs. in the clean & jerk. She was named best lifter in her age group.

Ken won his group with a snatch lift of 56 kgs. and a clean and jerk of 80 kgs. for a total of 136 kgs.

Both of the Millers were also inducted into the Canadian Masters Weightlifting Hall of Fame at the end of their competitions.

In September they will represent Canada at the World Masters Weightlifting Championships being held in Poland. Jill then carries on to Delhi, India where she will referee at the Commonwealth Games.

The Blue Mountain Club currently trains at Active Life Conditioning on Balsam Street.
